I’m trying a new approach with caging my tomatoes this year. I’m calling it the Tomato Tripod Method because it splits the plant into three main leaders (main producing stems).
I had seen these poles and arms as kits at the big box store and wanted to try it out. And I found that if I use each pole to support one leader and secure it, I can control for better airflow and support. And my plants are THRIVING!
Tomato Tripod Method Benefits:
- Provides higher support than cages
- Allows for easy pruning to increase airflow
- Detachable “arms” move to get the plant inside the support structure without bending or breaking
- These are way easier to store when not in use And my plants are THRIVING!
