I have been wanting to start a working worm farm for vermicompost to use in the garden because worm castings are such a beneficial addition to your soil and the health of your plants.
I have seen many versions that people have created before, but this one seemed like a good fit for me. You can also use five-gallon buckets, large fabric planters, and more to make a nice home for the worms to thrive and eat your scraps.

VERMACOMPOST WORM BINS PROJECT LIST:
TOOLS:
- Battery Powered Drill
- 1/4 inch Drill Bit
- 5/8 inch Spade Drill Bit
- Flip TWO of the plastic storage totes over so the bottom is facing up, and drill holes every 2 inches using the 1/4 in drill bit. Leave one plastic tote untouched for the bottom.
- Stack the plastic totes together and drill holes around the perimeter, right above where they stack together.
- Drill holes around the perimeter of one plastic tote lid.
- Using the 5/8 spade bit and the bottom bin (the one without holes in the bottom), find the center horizontally, making sure to get close to the bottom for drainage (about an inch up).
- Add the spigot to the front and use the washers and nut to hold it in place on the back.
- Stack the three bins back together with the spigot bin on the bottom and add the lid to the top of all three.
