    I found so many fun finds at the Asheville Herb Festival last week…

    I have always wanted to go to the Asheville Herb Festival and I finally went last weekend. It was amazing and now I’m planning to go every year if I can.

    They offer classes and all kinds of plants—indoor, outdoor, herbs, trees, fruit, garden vegetables, medicinals, etc.

    Pillbugs or roly-polys in your garden seem innocent… until they’re not.

    They aren’t a bad bug, but they can be slightly menacing. They are decomposers that chew on decaying, organic plant matter… but if they over populate and there’s not enough decaying matter for them all to feast on, they can nibble around the base of your baby seedlings, which could weaken them in the early growth stages.

    EASY, ORGANIC WAYS TO DETER PILLBUG DAMAGE IN THE GARDEN:

    1. Use recycled toilet paper tubes to make a collar that protects the base of baby seedlings.
    2. Put down a wet produce item, like a watermelon rind, apple, or potato. They tend to gather underneath the item and then you can toss the whole thing in the compost. You might even try wet cardboard.
