Stop throwing away toilet paper tubes… you can use those in the garden to place around your baby seedlings as a collar or barrier to stop cutworms.
Cutworms are a ground dwelling caterpillar that chew right through small stems, often leaving the top of the plant laying next to the base.

Cut the cardboard tubes in half and push them around the seedlings. It keeps the cutworms (and possibly pill bugs) away long enough for the stems to outgrow the danger and is a safe, organic option.
