Sifting Compost From My Compost System
Itโs compost sifting time because tomatoes do love some fresh compost.
When I plant tomatoes, I add compost in each hole/trench I dig, and then I like to top-dress the soil around them too. So I need lots of compost.
But Iโm so grateful I bought this little sifter last yearโฆ it makes it so much easier (plus I get a little arm workout). And now I have a compost system assembly line that actually works well!
I have a two-bay containment area that I built from reclaimed scrap wood a few years ago. I rotate each side at the beginning and end of the season. After I sift the finished compost I add it to a plastic garbage can with a lid so the nutrients donโt leach out in the rainโฆ And then I always have some sifted compost ready!
Hereโs a graphic they included on the Amazon link. I wanted to share it so you could see the different uses it hasโฆ though I didnโt realize โpopcornโ was an option. Prob best to NOT use it for popcorn if youโve been sifting compost, worm castings, and other soil items. Hahaโฆ
